Our Story

The Heart of BayBound

It started with a conversation I’ll never forget.

A close friend of mine approached me at one of his lowest points. He was overwhelmed, isolated, and felt like he was drifting through the community college system with no one to talk to. He didn’t know how to get the experience he needed or how to even begin preparing for transfer applications.

Hearing him say that changed everything for me because I knew exactly how he felt. When I started at CC, I didn't have a built-in community or a list of resources to fall back on. I spent my first year figuring it all out the hard way — learning which classes to take, how to navigate the transfer red tape, and where the support systems actually were.

I realized that success in community college doesn't have to depend on how well you can struggle through the dark on your own.

Why I created this project

I created BayBound CC because I want to share everything I’ve found helpful with anyone who needs it. I know the reality of the CC struggle like trying to book a counseling appointment and waiting months for a meeting that ends up being a "hit or miss."

This project is here to fill that gap. But it’s not just about the paperwork. Commuting to CC often leaves very little room for real, person-to-person interaction. Most of us arrive, go to class, and leave immediately, which only deepens that feeling of isolation. I believe we need that connection to survive this journey.

What you'll find here

  • Direct Resources: A centralized place for the tools and information I found during my first year.
  • Peer-to-Peer Connection: A forum to talk to mentors and fellow students to clear up confusion and build the community that commuter students often miss out on.
  • Financial & Transfer Roadmaps: Practical advice, scholarships, and planning your move to a dream school.

Breaking the Stigma

This project is also about a mindset shift. For too long, community college has been looked down upon as a "fallback" option. I hope to show that it is not only an active, ambitious choice, but a strong economical choice.

My Goal for BayBound CC

My goal for BayBound is pretty simple: I want to help at least one person from a California CC plan their journey, transfer to their dream school, or simply feel a little less alone on their path.

You aren't behind, and you aren't alone. You’re just getting started.
